A whole new low for dog shows!

Man charged with drugging rival dog at kennel club

A Pennsylvania man accused of drugging a rival dog at a kennel club show to give his girlfriend’s prized pooch an edge says he will fight the charges in court.

Authorities say Ralph Ullum, 68, fed a Siberian Husky named Pixie two human drugs during an American Kennel Club show in suburban Chicago last December to sabotage her chances of winning.

His lawyer called the charges bogus, saying the roofie accusations came only after the mutt belonging to Ullum’s gal beat Pixie to win best in show, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Dog shows are serious stuff!  That’s why we don’t enter the Zing Dong in any!  I don’t want anyone slipping him any heartburn medication!  I need that stuff for myself!  Seriously though, what is wrong with people?  They’re dogs!  Let them leave it on the field!

Is dying your cat pink cruel?

    pink cat

LONDON — It was initially perceived as a sick prank. British animal welfare investigators were trying to track down the person responsible for dyeing a cat pink and dumping the animal in a garden in southern England.

After a nationwide appeal, a 22-year-old mother of two has stepped forward to claim responsibility.

Natasha Gregory of Swindon, Wiltshire, says she’s the owner of the pet and admits to using food coloring to dye the animal. “It’s my favorite color,” she told the Daily Mail, “I just love it.”

Gregory says her pet — named Oi! Kitty — had been missing for days before she saw the widespread media coverage.

Gregory told the Daily Mail that she followed the directions on a bottle of food coloring to change the color of her pet, noting that “we eat the food the dye is used on, so I know it wasn’t toxic.”

The self-described “animal lover” said that the animal’s previous owner, her sister Lisa, had also dyed the cat on a separate occasion.

Can I dye my kids pink?  Ok, as odd as this seems, I guess I don’t really see anything wrong with it.  As long as it isn’t toxic and as long as the cat isn’t bullied by other cats until it jumps off a bridge then it’s fine right?  I sprayed black stripes on Sage for Halloween one year.  Not much difference is there.  What kind of “retribution” are people looking for?  Should we force the woman to dye her hair pink?  That’s not going to do anything.  What do you think?

Apparently people think pets are disposable!

Carrier discovered behind inn, lettuce left for nourishment

Four two-week-old kittens were discovered behind the Park View Inn in Salem, NH on Tuesday. The apparently abandoned quartet was found in a taped shut pet carrier without water and only a few pieces of lettuce for nourishment. The kittens were brought to the MSPCA’s Noble Family Animal Care and Adoption Center in Methuen and have been placed in foster care to be hand fed as they recuperate.

“The kittens have been examined and are being treated for eye infections,” said Mike Keiley, Director of the Methuen based adoption center. “They also required the warmth from our incubator since they were cold from their time in the woods. It is fortunate that they were discovered otherwise they may have died from the dropping temperatures, starvation, illness, or possibly even an attack from a wild animal.”
The four kittens, nicknamed Arugula, Endive, Radicchio, and Romaine by the adoption center staff, require bottle feeding since they are too young to eat solid foods. They will remain in foster care for at least six weeks until they are old enough to be placed up for adoption.

What is going on?  Is everything disposable now?  Are people no longer reusing their tinfoil?  One goon lets their puppy play in the waves and drown so they give it up, another puts some lettuce in a carrier and tosses kittens, not big enough to eat the lettuce, in the woods.

I have some serious concerns about bringing my kids up in this world!

In the words of Billy Madison, “You got a pet. You got a responsibility. If your dog gets lost you don’t look for an hour then call it quits. You get your ass out there and you find that f@#$&%g dog.”
